About Kyra

Movement has been the thread of my life’s work.

As a child I dreamed of being a ballerina. At the age of seventeen I began my journey with Boston Ballet, where I rose through the ranks to become a principal dancer. After suffering injuries, which I did, I always found myself in the PT room or the Pilates studio, where I discovered my intuitive gift: 

a deep interest in healing the mind-body connection. Using Pilates, yoga, and mindfulness, I repeatedly overcame and flourished after each setback. 

Upon retiring, I became certified in Pilates in 2000 and yoga in 2004.


My yoga experience spans over two decades and includes certifications from renowned teachers such as Baron Baptiste, Todd Norian, Rolf Gates, Joseph LaPage, and Judith Hanson Lasater. I am an E-RYT 500 and have completed advanced training in yoga therapy, which allows me to work with students in a way that encompasses whole person health. Not just poses, but so much more. Additional certifications include specific work with trauma, and releasing it through BBTRS.


In 2011, I founded Yoga Masala—Columbia’s first hot vinyasa yoga studio. It was so much more than just a place to do yoga. It was a vibrant community rooted in sweat, connection, and transformation. We proudly offered Columbia’s first 200-hour vinyasa teacher training, helping shape the local yoga landscape.


Like many others, I experienced a significant shift during the pandemic. I closed Yoga Masala in 2020, and stepped back from teaching to navigate the personal changes that followed. But through all of it, yoga remained my constant—my refuge and my reset.


Instead of opening a studio, as many people have suggested, I am focusing on intentional, transformational work. I offer thoughtful yet challenging vinyasa classes, private Pilates and yoga therapy sessions, as well as deeply healing breath work through Biodynamic Breath & Trauma Release System® (BBTRS®). 

My mission is to help students reconnect with themselves—to cultivate resilience, peace, and presence on the mat, in order to carry that sense of purpose through all aspects of their lives. Whether in person or online, I strive to create a space where people feel safe, encouraged, and supported on their journey to wholeness.
